The Women’s Rugby World Cup represented another landmark
moment for the women’s game. While the focus was on
performances on the pitch, the RPA remained alongside the Red
Roses, providing independent player support before, during and
after one of the biggest moments of their careers.
THROUGHOUT THE TOURNAMENT
As Red Roses Player Development Manager, Lynsey Hyslop was
embedded with the squad throughout the Women’s Rugby World
Cup, providing independent welfare and player development
support to players competing on the sport’s biggest stage.
SUPPORTING THE WHOLE PERSON
Elite performance brings unique pressures, both on and off the
pitch. Alongside the demands of international rugby, players
had access to confidential guidance and support away from the
playing environment, ensuring their wellbeing remained a priority
throughout the tournament.
RETURNING TO EVERYDAY LIFE
Support didn’t end with the final whistle. Following the tournament,
players had access to decompression support to help them reflect
on their experiences and transition back into club rugby, work,
education and everyday life. Lynsey Hyslop was among those
trained to deliver this support to players.
