Preparing for life beyond rugby starts long before a player’s final
game. Through education, qualifications and practical learning
opportunities, the RPA supports players to develop skills that can
benefit them during their careers and open new opportunities beyond
the game.
At Bristol Bears, Max Pepper is completing a Level 4 Data Analyst
Apprenticeship, developing skills that can be applied within a highperformance sporting environment while building towards his longerterm career.
Just a few months into the programme, Max is already developing
greater confidence in interpreting data, challenging assumptions and
understanding how evidence can support better decision-making.

OPENING DOORS THROUGH APPRENTICESHIPS
Max’s apprenticeship is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy,
enabling him to gain a recognised qualification and develop indemand skills alongside his rugby career.
Where clubs do not have sufficient Levy funding available,
the RPA can help access funding through Levy Share, opening
apprenticeship opportunities to more players and non-playing staff
across the elite game.
By helping players access recognised qualifications and develop
future-focused skills, the RPA is supporting development during their
careers while helping them prepare for whatever comes next.
